Solution Name: Sehat Kahani for COVID – 19 Prevention
Sehat Kahani Telemedicine Solution:
Solution Description
Sehat Kahani uses a virtual telemedicine and video consultation platform that allows previously home based and out of work female doctors, popularly known as “doctor Brides” in Pakistan to resume work from the comfort of their homes and provide health consultations, treatment and counselling to patients in need of affordable, accessible, quality health care in Pakistan and beyond.
These female health experts can be approached via our unique Hub and Spoke Model:
Hubs(Focused on patients which do not have access to smartphones or technology):
Our chain of affordable E-Health clinics in low income areas where frontline female intermediaries such as local nurses and health workers facilitate the online consultation and support mass health education drives within these communities. These e- clinics also give access to lab, ultrasound, medicines and tertiary care referral.
Spokes(focused or urban users who have access to smartphones or technology):
Our E- health mobile application by which patients can access female health experts 24/7 using their mobile phones. This mobile application can also disseminate health education via notifications, provided at home lab and pharmacy delivery options using Lab and pharmacy partners.
With a growing network of 1500 female doctors that comprises general physicians and specialists,Sehat Kahani has established 26 E-Health clinics in three provinces in Pakistan. Our Sehat Kahani clinics and Application have successfully provided telemedicine consultations to 130,000 plus patients. Our nurse intermediaries and community mobilisers have conducted 18 mass preventive campaigns in our communities educating over 1 million beneficiaries on important primary health care issues.
How Solution Can Be (or is) Used in Coronavirus Response
The Sehat Kahani E- clinics as well as the mobile application provides a much safer solution for patients approaching with symptoms leading to coronavirus and also provide counselling and preventive measures to those who are reliant upon Google searches instead of professional consultations. With the outbreak on its peak, the feature of a video call ensures safety of the medical professionals along with assuring the patients never have to wait for hours which decreases the probability of the spread of coronavirus.
The response line also enables qualified doctors to link patients with different service providers via the ‘Sehat Kahani’ E- clinics or App by providing prescriptions for medical supplies required by them which can be accessed in the clinics or be delivered on their doorstep using our service partners. The intention is to restrain the patients from exposing the virus to their surroundings by visiting public places such as pharmacies or health facilities unnecessarily.
Our qualified and skilled Community health workers can be engaged in conducting health education and awareness sessions in our communities where our clinics are based. This will also help patients in communities to gain more knowledge about the symptoms, signs and treatment options. The sooner, the patient is aware about their symptoms and is diagnosed, the sooner the doctors in the clinics or on the application will be able to help them.
Lastly, with the ease of an E- clinic and the App, data collection and identification of patients will be quicker and the outbreak of the disease can easily be prevented.Severe cases of coronavirus will be reported to the health authorities to contain the outbreak.
