This quote by Eleanor Roosevelt perfectly encapsulates the inspiring journey of Sehat Kahani, a revolutionary healthcare startup. It all began with the visionary dream of two young doctors, Dr. Sara Saeed Khurram and Dr. Iffat Zafar Aga, who believed in transforming healthcare accessibility for underserved communities in Pakistan. Fueled by their passion, they envisioned a platform where women doctors could provide telemedicine services to patients, bridging the gap between healthcare providers and those in need. 

Despite facing skepticism and numerous challenges, they persisted, tirelessly working to turn their dream into reality. Through unwavering determination, they secured partnerships, harnessed technology, and gathered a team of dedicated professionals who shared their vision. Today, Sehat Kahani stands as a beacon of hope, empowering countless individuals to receive quality healthcare irrespective of their geographic location, and proving that dreams, when embraced wholeheartedly, can shape a brighter future for all.

This year, on 20th February 2023, Sehat Kahani celebrated its 6th anniversary with high hopes, enthusiasm, and manifestation of even better goals.

 

Brief history of Sehat Kahani

Sehat Kahani was born out of the vision of two young female doctors, Dr. Iffat Zafar Aga and Dr. Sara Saeed Khurram. Witnessing the challenges faced by the women practicing healthcare, owing to their domestic lives and duties, especially in underserved areas, they sought to bridge the gap through telemedicine. In 2017, they founded Sehat Kahani with a mission to provide affordable, accessible, and quality healthcare to all, irrespective of their geographical location and to provide a medium to the women in healthcare who stays deprived of practicing medicine.

Sehat Kahani’s journey and challenges it faced

The journey of Sehat Kahani has not been without challenges. Building trust in virtual healthcare delivery and educating communities about the benefits of telemedicine required extensive efforts. Additionally, addressing connectivity issues and ensuring data privacy were paramount concerns. The co-founders having a non-business background was another hurdle the organization had to face. However, Sehat Kahani persevered, collaborating with government agencies, NGOs, and corporate partners to overcome these obstacles and create a sustainable model of healthcare delivery.

Impact made by Sehat Kahani

The impact of Sehat Kahani has been profound. By leveraging technology, the initiative has empowered both male and female healthcare providers, enabling them to practice from home while managing their domestic responsibilities. This not only enhances gender equality but also creates economic opportunities especially for women.

Today, the organization homes 7500+ healthcare workers and have a vast network of e-clinics from Karachi till AJ&K. Having 700 corporates including 5 insurance companies on board, Sehat Kahani has surpassed the milestone of 100,000 signups.
