Sehat Kahani Partners with Frontier Medical College(FMC)

Abbottabad – 25th July, 2019: Sehat Kahani, a health-tech social enterprise that aims to democratize healthcare, making it accessible for all, using telemedicine and a network of online female doctors, signed the MOU with Frontier Medical College (FMC), one of the leading medical institutions of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, affiliated with the Bahria University. Through this collaboration, Sehat Kahani and Frontier Medical College aim to increase access to primary healthcare facilities for the masses, educate them regarding prevalent healthcare issues, create employment opportunities for healthcare professionals and engage them in trainings & CMEs.

The MOU signing and project launch ceremony was graced by leading officials of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Government, Dr. Asad Jamil Khan (CEO, Frontier Medical College), Dr. Sara Saeed Khurram (CEO, Sehat Kahani) and Sehat Kahani’s key Technology and Community Development Partner, and Technical Advisor, Mr. Umar Farooq(CEO, Tech Valley).

Pakistan, today, is in dire need of proper health services as around 50% of the population not only lacks access to proper care at hospitals but also are not equipped with basic health education.  As per statistics, only 1 doctor is available for every 1200 people in a population of 200 million. Sehat Kahani provides low income, middle, as well as high income population with various e-health solutions powered by technology.

The Sehat Kahani E-Health Clinics are a one stop shop for residents living in low-income communities of Pakistan, enabling the availability of nurse assisted video consultation with a PMDC certified online doctor, a visiting ultrasound facility, and a visiting diagnostic service all under one roof. Along with clinical care services, health education is actively conducted for the patients to create awareness amongst them about prevalent health issues and their prevention. The Sehat Kahani App, on the contrary, is a holistic digital health solution that enables individuals to access primary healthcare services online through efficient virtual consultations and is designed to be very user-friendly for smartphone users.

Under this joint venture, Frontier Medical College will be conducting medical camps all across Sehat Kahani’s e-health clinics, with the very first camp being held at Dadar, Sehat Kahani’s tele-psychiatry clinic. A co-branded tele-medicine hub will be set up in the college which will have an online doctors from Sehat Kahani’s female health provider network. Along with this all tertiary care referrals from the clinics will be directed to FMC’s hospitals that also comprises of an MRI setup, Operation Theatre, CCU & ICU, at a subsidized rate. Furthermore, to engage medical professionals in cross-sharing of knowledge, we will be engaging FMC medical graduates and volunteers as well as Sehat Kahani’s doctors and nurses in online CMEs and trainings.

Dr. Sara Saeed Khurram (CEO, Sehat Kahani) said, “When we launched our first few telemedicine clinics, one of them was based in Mansehra. Ever since then, KP has been extremely close to my heart. There is so much potential in this region, but unfortunately the healthcare condition has only deteriorated over the course. This collaboration is a huge opportunity to pave the way for the establishment of more tele-medicine setups and health awareness. ”

The CEO of Frontier Medical College (FMC), Dr. Asad Jameel added to this at the ceremony, “Frontier Medical College is the first private medical institute in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa region. We are very happy to partner with Sehat Kahani to broaden the horizon of healthcare in this region through innovative means using technology. We hope to establish KP the regional healthcare hub of Pakistan. ”

To date Sehat Kahani has served more than 1 million patients through a portfolio of 25 E-Health clinics across Pakistan, various health education projects with leading corporates, the Sehat Kahani Mobile App and a network of 1500 PMDC-certified female doctors. Under the project with FMC, Sehat Kahani envisions to increase its reach and spread its operations further in the KP region impacting the 35 million population of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
